Job description:

Core Asset Consulting's Client, a highly respected Asset Manager, has an opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to join their Edinburgh based investment legal team on a permanent basis.

You will assist the business by identifying and managing legal risks while focusing on contractual matters, contract negotiation, project work, providing general legal advice to the business. It will also involve areas such as data protection compliance, derivatives and unlisted investments.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a capable, analytically minded legal professional to develop within a reputable organisation with a friendly and supportive team. You will ideally come from a Corporate or Corporate Finance background ideally with some exposure to Financial Services.


  • Qualified Lawyer NQ- 4 Years PQE
  • Experience in Corporate or Corporate Finance
  • Experience of financial services, either in industry or private practice
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • The ability to deliver high quality results in advance of deadlines with a proactive and positive approach
  • Excellent communication skills and poses the ability to influence internally and externally and collaborate effectively within and across teams

Core responsibilities:

  • Assist in the drafting, review, and amendment of legal agreements
  • Principal responsibility for dealing with corporate actions in relation to unlisted investments
  • Reviewing corporate action legal documentation when received
  • Seeking and coordinating input from relevant areas of the business, including investors, administrators, accountants and tax advisors
  • Working with external legal counsel when required
  • Finalising and returning completed documentation to relevant companies
  • Maintenance of internal databases in relation to all relevant corporate actions
  • Reviewing and negotiating the terms of NDAs for unlisted investments
  • Providing legal assistance in relation to ongoing unlisted investments to existing team members
  • Assistance on other legal matters across the wider Legal team
  • Assistance with maintaining departmental precedent documents and checklists
  • Assistance with the implementation of projects across the department
  • Research on relevant topical matters as and when requested
