Senior Data Analyst

Senior Data Analyst required for our clients’ who are a Glasgow based challenger bank.

Our ideal candidate will have a passion for using Data to drive business decisions.

You will be accountable for creating and maintaining Standards and Policies relating to the Data Management Framework and ensuring these are adhered to across the Organisation. Promoting good practice around Data Management you

will support various Technology Functions and the wider business to create a better understanding of Data and the flow of that Data across the banks systems.

Key responsibilities:

  • Leading a small team of analysts on a data project – managing progress and deliverables, providing mentoring support
  • Transforming business requirements into system requirements
  • Analysis of information requirements on complex data-driven projects involving integration, data warehousing, business intelligence and master data management technologies
  • Analysis of source system data – quality, robustness, cardinality etc
  • Manage key project stakeholders – both IT and business SMEs
  • Production of logical data models
  • Source to target data mappings
  • Collation of metadata to develop a data dictionary
  • Delivery of analysis to industry best practise, leading user forums and driving agility
  • Management of project scope
  • Provision of support and consultancy across the project lifecycle (eg. Design, Build, Test)
  • Coordinate and support the production of project impact assessments
  • Leading continuous improvement initiatives to further strengthen the business analysis capability
  • Project status reporting

Essential Skills Required:

  • Strong data analysis and SQL skills
  • Ability to lead small teams of analysts
  • Ability to translate complex business requirements into quality system requirements
  • A working knowledge of logical data modelling and source to target data mapping
  • An understanding of dimensional modelling
  • A working knowledge of process modelling and use cases
  • A good understanding of data lifecycle management, metadata management and data quality
  • A knowledge of data profiling in support of projects
  • A good understanding of software delivery methodologies (eg. waterfall, agile etc.)
  • Ability to communicate complex ideas in simple terms
  • Ability to support and influence key technical and business stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-changing environment
  • Ability to act as a champion for change
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent organisational, time-management and communication skills

Beneficial/Not Essential:

  • Previous Financial Services or Banking experience
  • Experience of Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence applications and technologies
  • Experience of data and process modelling tools (eg. ERWin, Enterprise Architect etc.)
  • Experience of working with third party delivery partners
  • An appreciation of Business Intelligence products (eg. Business Objects, SAS etc.)
