Our client are looking to recruit a Brewing Technical Manager to be responsible for all production at their sites in Scotland together with also being responsible for quality and technical developments. The main output of this role is to ensure that all beers are as delicious as they can be and that the consumer experience from the product is world class.

The company require someone with significant related experience within the brewing industry. You will ideally also have a relevant degree (or equivalent) and/or the IBD Diploma in Brewing.  The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills and have a true passion for the brewing industry. As this role requires travel throughout Scotland (mostly the Central belt) a driver’s licence is an essential requirement for applicants to have.

 Reporting to the Brewing and Operations Director, your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage the production relationship with all owned and 3rd party production sites including all aspects of brewing and packaging from diagnosing production issues and working on process improvements to managing quality and producing the weekly brew plan
  • Be the go-to person for all technical and quality aspects of production from 3rd party partners, from the brewhouse to packaging and lead monthly management meetings with their senior teams
  • Work closely with the Head of NPD and the Planning Manager to develop any new products and be the main technical resource for new products being produced
  • Manage the quality of the entire supply chain, from brewing and packaging at various production sites including own brewery
  • Develop a group quality strategy and roll this out incorporating third party production, own Brewery and own brew pubs
  • Support the commissioning and development of any new packaging formats or materials
  • Manage all customer complaints relating to production
  • Support the taste panel program for the group working with the taste panel lead to ensure a world class taste program is in place
  • Work closely with all suppliers building great relationships across the supply chain
  • Work closely with the MD and Head brewer in order to provide technical support as required to support the development of new beers and also to support production of current brands
  • Manage the transition of brands from own brewery to other third-party breweries
