Our client, a leading drinks business, is looking for an experienced Technical Team Leader to join them based in Glasgow.

Purpose: Support the Distillery Engineering Manager to manage the Engineering Department to maintain and develop the production plant and site buildings, services & infrastructure. To manage the team of 16 Multi Skilled Technicians. To actively develop engineering processes and people to ensure the ongoing improvement of the Distillery Engineering function. To provide Engineering support to the production management teams on distillery performance, efficiency, and product quality in order to meet business needs and customer expectations. Support the Engineering Manager in planning and delivering bi-annual shutdown programmes.

Key Responsibilities:

- Direct line management of team of 16 Multi Skilled Technicians
- Management and control of Engineering workshop
- Manage and control Planned Preventive Maintenance and corrective repairs
- Manage utilisation of multi-skilled technicians and external engineering support as required.
- Provide service and technical support to the Technicians and operational teams within the distillery
- Take responsibility for self-development and identify training and development needs of Multi-Skilled Technicians to continually improve performance
- Management and control of internal and external providers of engineering support, ensuring compliance with safety, engineering change control and technical documentation, including completion certifications and handover are completed
- Ensure compliance with both company and legislative SHE requirements
- Support preparation of Engineering Revenue and Capex budgets
- Develop engineering processes and procedures towards best practice
- Continually review and identify areas for improving equipment capacity and availability
- Support of Engineering Manager to deliver bi-annual site shutdown programmes involving outage in summer period and at Christmas period
- Investigate and develop ways of improving engineering processes (both business related and process related)
- Ensuring the provision and maintenance of all technical documentation and drawings to meet company standards
- Ensure appropriate housekeeping standards are maintained
- Authority to issue and maintain high risk PTW e.g. Hot work, Work at height etc

Key Skills & Experience Required:

- Relevant Engineering qualification
- Excellent practical problem solving skills
- Demonstrate technical knowledge and managerial skills
- Good influencing and communication skills and be able to build strong working relationships with internal and external customers
- Good working knowledge of Allen Bradley (or similar PLC) systems is desirable
- Experience of grain distilling or continuous process plant and knowledge of steam raising and distribution equipment would also be desirable
- A broad engineering experience of mechanical and electrical equipment
- Numerate and literate with good written and verbal communication skills
- Computer literate and able to operate business process systems to required levels
- Communicate effectively at all levels of the business internally and externally
- Experience of engineering best practice relevant to continuous process operations
- Understand and contribute to continuous improvement
- Understand KPI's and contribute to the achievement of departmental and business objectives
- Understand and comply with all relevant legal and company standards for Health & Safety, Food Safety, Site Security and general housekeeping
- Be able to identify technical and personal development requirements in support of the above
- Be able to contribute to the production team with a positive and flexible attitude
- Ability to prioritise and co-ordinate engineering resource to achieve targets
- Manage short and long term targets
- Effective formal and informal reporting on key day to day issues as well as more formal medium and long term reporting
- Must be able to drive
- Experience in leading / managing in an Engineering support function
