Role Summary

Reporting to the Head of Legal and Risk, this new role will manage the contract negotiation and ongoing maintenance of the contracts between People’s Postcode Lottery and Promoting Societies. The post holder will also advise and negotiate on other contractual arrangements involving People’s Postcode Lottery, as well as providing legal advice and drafting on other matters, such as disputes.  

The right candidate will be an experienced solicitor, confident, knowledgeable and a good communicator who can work with and at the most senior levels – ideally with a strong track record in contract negotiation and management.

An understanding of the Gambling Act 2005, and the related LCCP, would be advantageous or experience of a similar contract negotiation/management role with strong regulatory requirements would be welcomed.  You must be able to learn quickly and be able to adapt to the demands of this role.

Key Activities

  • Managing  contract negotiations with Promoting Societies to completion
  • Providing Promoting Societies with relevant documentation to support their Gambling Commission licence applications
  • Advising on, drafting and managing general  contractual requirements
  • Providing general legal advice, for example in relation to commercial matters and disputes

Required Skills

  • Proven project management experience, taking project to completion
  • Experience in contract management
  • Strong communicator at all levels
  • Able to operate using own initiative – a self-starter able to work with minimum direction
  • The ability to manage workload and to juggle priorities
  • Excellent working knowledge of Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Must be extremely organised, with a keen eye for detail
  • Must have the ability to work methodically and independently
  • An interest in individual needs and point of view
  • Good team working skills, with the ability to work closely with others
  • A positive thinker who can quickly pinpoint problems, come up with solutions and get action going

Additional Information

Whilst the core hours of the role will be 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 5.30pm occasional weekends will be required; time in lieu will be given.

You will receive 34 days annual leave including public holidays and you will be encouraged to spend two days a year volunteering with one of our charity partners or projects.

Travel both nationally and internationally may be required.
