Meraki Talent is currently recruiting for a Legal Cashier on behalf of our client, a highly regarded professional services firm located in Edinburgh city centre. Joining an established friendly team, this role reports in directly to the Cashroom Supervisor and offers the opportunity to undertake a varied role. The successful candidate will have worked as a Legal Cashier and be accustomed to working in a high volume transactional environment.

Responsibilities of the Legal Cashier

• Allocating bank receipts, reviewing and setting up on CHAPS, BACS, Faster payment and international payment record
• Processing office/client payment and receipt transactions
• Processing Inter-account bank transactions
• Opening, closing and carrying out maintenance on client’s bank accounts via the firms banking software
• Review and process internal cheque requests
• Ensuring client funds are lodged and uplifted from bank accounts
• Carrying out daily bank reconciliations
• Credit control - pursuing all outstanding payments
• Running the firms purchase ledger including processing invoices, running weekly bulk payment runs and one off payments
• Run daily and weekly compliance reports taking necessary action to comply with governing regulations
• Regular liaison with Directors, Partners and other staff member in relation to client transactions
• Ensuring all documentation is filed accurately
• Assisting with all other Cash Room duties as and when required

Background of the Legal Cashier

• Legal Cashier experience gained within a high transactional environment – essential
• Working knowledge of the Law Society of Scotland Accounts Rules – advantageous
• Accustomed to relationship building and liaison with senior staff members – essential
• Excellent communication skills written and verbal
• Self-starter and enthusiastic about the role
• High attention to detail
• Working knowledge of Sage Accounts
• MS Word and Excel – essential
• Accustomed to making low level decisions
• SOLAS qualification - advantageous
• Team Player
