Bandrum Nursing Home, one of the biggest homes in Scotland, provides 24 hour specialist adult care, and care for the elderly.

Set in 19 acres of land, our two beautiful, purpose built homes have 85 beds between them. In the same complex, we have 7 units providing care for residents with a range of support needs.

The care regimes here have been particularly complimented over the years and respite clients return regularly.

Following an exciting restructuring process which had led to some staff promoted with-in the business, we now have an opening for a Charge Nurse to join the team in our special mental health unit on days shift.

This small 14 bed unit is a well-established facility, with a very low turnover of experienced staff, which makes this a rare opportunity to join our specialist team.

The successful candidate will provide and supervise the delivery of high standards of nursing care to their residents, in accordance with up to date evidence-based professional practice and Company policies. You will organise, manage and run their unit, including providing high quality care to their residents and managing their team of carers.

It is also essential that you have an active Pin and have a legal right to work in the UK.

You will be supporting residents with a range of conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Neurological Conditions, Huntington’s Disease, Stroke, Anoxic Brain Injury, Congenital Physical conditions with associated Epilepsy and those requiring PEG feeding.

In addition to your qualifications and experience, you should have a passion for caring and be ready to wholly adopt a person centred approach; showing compassion and a desire to make a difference. You should have leadership qualities and be willing to take ownership for the delivery of high quality care.

You won’t be alone though, with head office and management support on-site, you will be given all the support you need to be successful within your role.

You will also be given the opportunity to increase your skill set, providing specialist care to our residents and ensuring continuity of care.

The primary responsibilities of this role include:

• Taking responsibility for the well-being of our residents, including making sure their physical, emotional and social needs are met.

• Leading, motivating and mentoring to your multidisciplinary team and delivering clinical guidance and training to ensure the safe, smooth and efficient running of the unit

• Carrying out assessments and developing, implementing and evaluating person centred care plans for each of our residents

• Monitoring work areas and practices to ensure they are safe and conform to relevant standards, policies and legislation

• Promoting residents` independence, choice, dignity and respect by delivering the very best standards of care and striving for continuous improvement

• Carrying out audits to ensure the highest quality of care is being provided

• Liaising with multi-disciplinary teams, chairing team meetings and residents meetings

• Working closely with the new House Manager who will give direct specialist support to the new Charge Nurse

The key requirements for this role are:

• A Registered Nurse with RGN, RMN, or RNMH qualifications

• Experience of managing a unit & carers

• Experience of working in care homes

Other desirable qualities include:

• Experience of working in a mental health or physically disabled Unit

• Experience of the independent sector

• Motivated and passionate about providing care
