Supply Chain Manager


Purpose of Position:

As lead of the Supply Chain Department the role is to support the Project Teams, ensuring that goods and services procured for ACE Winches are of the correct quality, quantity and cost, whilst achieving delivery deadlines. 

To interface with stakeholders at all levels ensuring best practices are adopted and recommend long term improvements to further advance the supply chain function.  Ensure that quality standards are maintained, preferred supplier contracts entered into ensuring that’s goods are procured on time and on budget. 

Integral part of the Management Team working together to support the Business Leaders and Division Directors/Managers.  Support other departments and ACE Norge AS Division as and when required.


Job Management

  • Establish and manage Vendor Agreements for materials, equipment and services that ACE requires

  • Manage continuous improvement of suppliers through regular Supplier Performance Feedback Reports

  • Ensure that materials purchased are as specified, safe, fit for purpose, correctly documented and the most economic to fulfil ACE Winches business objectives

  • Ensure that all Customs and Excise procedures are correctly followed with respect to purchase and logistic requirements and implement any recommendations

  • Ownership of development and management of purchasing strategies for ACE Winches

  • Develop and maintain Procurement Status Reports and Purchasing strategies as required for ACE Winches

  • Maintain an appropriate expediting strategy to ensure materials are delivered to meet project schedules and take corrective action as required

  • To negotiate the best possible solution for ACE Winches, e.g. commercial, quality, delivery

Mentoring Development

  • Ensure that ACE Supply Chain Department becomes actively involved in appropriate industry initiatives and forums such as FPAL, CIPS etc

Department Management

  • Ensure that all supplier pricing information is maintained and distributed in such a way as to be readily available to all relevant company personnel

  • Identify and develop potential new suppliers which would strategically benefit the supply chain

  • Undertake supplier visits, compiling visit reports upon completion

HSEQ Leadership

  • Liaise with the HSEQ Manager and engineering disciplines to ensure any identified inspection is carried out in a timely manner

  • Ensure that all activities are carried out in a safe manner and that all safety related issues are recorded, reported and dealt with in accordance to ACE procedures

Financial Performance

  • Manage the Supply Chain elements of the budget

  • Ensure all purchasing is carried out cost effectively

  • Approve Purchase Orders within delegated financial authority

  • Liaise with purchase ledger, Finance, to deal with any invoicing issues or discrepancies

  • In conjunction with Chief Commercial Officer and Legal as appropriate, negotiate commercial terms and conditions and approve purchase orders within limits of approved budgets and delegated financial authority

  • Maximise savings and cost avoidance through leveraging, negotiation, utilisation of surplus materials, inventory reduction and standardisation of equipment

Compliance of Management Systems

  • Ensure compliance to all ACE Winches management systems and where applicable client procedures in line with ISO 9001:2015

People Management

  • Provide functional guidance and support to Supply Chain team

  • Conducting staff appraisals of the Supply Chain team


  • Degree or HND preferred
  • Membership of CIPS preferred
  • Previous experience in a senior role within the Supply Chain function is essential
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in setting up supplier agreements
  • Proven negotiation skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills/experience
  • The ability to understand technical and engineering terms is preferred
  • Decision making skills/experience is essential
  • Management of team and leadership qualities
  • Must have a drive for continuous improvement and driving efficiencies in processes and procedures
