Clerk to Governors

Pay scale G07, pt. 26: £14.83 ph • 70-90 hours pa (approx)

We are looking for an extremely organised, effective and flexible Clerk to the Governors to provide support and advice to the Governing Body.

You will:

• provide advice to the Governing Body on governance, constitutional and procedural matters

• provide effective administrative support to the Governing Body, including preparation of accurate minutes and timely distribution of meeting papers

• ensure the Governing Body is properly constituted

• manage information effectively in accordance with legal requirements, and understand the importance of strong

governance and that the Clerk plays a pivotal role in the success of the school.

Previous secretarial, office or administrative experience is essential and school experience would be a distinct advantage. A positive attitude and calm manner with the ability to prioritise and deal with a demanding workload is vital. You will be an excellent communicator, have a professional approach and be able to deal with complex matters both face-to-face and in writing. You will have strong MS Office skills e.g. Word and be a competent user of email.

Attendance will be required at approximately six governors meetings, which are generally held in the evening. Preparation and follow-up work will be undertaken from home and you must have access to a computer and the internet at home.
