John Muir Trust

Head of Fundraising

£37,000 - £39,000 dependent on experience

Edinburgh or Pitlochry

The John Muir Trust is dedicated to protecting and enhancing wild places.  We are bold in their defence. We are positive and collaborative in our solutions. We act with integrity following the ethos of John Muir and are supported by a growing membership.

We are known for our wild places, through the properties we own including Ben Nevis and Sandwood Bay in the far north-west; one of the most remote places in Scotland.  We are known for our partnerships, working with communities, organisations and individuals to achieve our mission.  We are known for the John Muir Award, our educational initiative attained by over 300,000 people, to promote awareness and connect with wildness.

Following a review of the organisation, The John Muir Trust is looking for an experienced income-generator to take on the lead role in fundraising  within a department that has responsibility for development, membership recruitment, marketing and communications.

We are looking for a candidate who is strongly motivated by the aims of the Trust, to lead the development of a fundraising strategy, inspire and lead the development team and generate significant income.  The successful candidate will show enthusiasm for developing support across a diversity of givers and audiences.  The role requires imagination and creativity, the ability to work effectively within and across teams, good project management skills and clear understanding of the professional and legal standards expected within fundraising work.

The post can be based in either the Edinburgh (Leith) or Pitlochry offices of the Trust, although time will be split between these two locations. Travel will be an essential component of the role.

This is an incredibly exciting time to join a well respected conservation charity that punches above its weight to protect and enhance wild places and wildlife.

Applications in the form of a tailored CV and cover letter should arrive no later than midnight on Sunday, 7 January 2018.
