Associate Partner, Licensing Frameworks

Ofgem is committed to making a positive difference for energy consumers through effective regulation of the market and close working with suppliers to ensure sustainable energy for consumers and businesses in the UK.

This is a senior role within Ofgem, which takes responsibility for the overall integrity and management of the regulatory framework in the GB energy sector. Ensuring the integrity of the licensing framework is vital to allowing Ofgem to use its legal powers to protect customers and influence how the energy marketplace operates. You’ll take on a broad leadership role within our Consumers & Competition directorate, which works closely with the energy industry to address some of the most high-profile topics around consumer rights and customer service. Headline areas which will fall within your influence include Industry Codes and Licensing; monitoring financial sustainability of suppliers so Ofgem is ready to act to protect consumers if things go wrong; and supplier data improvement to help make customer switching easier.

We expect that you’ll offer extensive experience of the GB energy market, and a detailed knowledge of the energy regulatory framework as set out in the Electricity and Gas Acts. You should be able to apply a strategic perspective to see the links between different elements of a complex marketplace and bring this to bear in the form of astute and well-informed policy advice. The ability to work well across a diverse range of stakeholders is essential – you should be able to establish credibility and trust quickly with senior representatives across the energy sector. And you should offer highly developed project management skills, and have the resilience, knowledge and experience to bring a calm and assured influence to a fast paced working environment.

Ofgem can offer you a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, which includes:

· Up to 30 days’ annual leave

· Excellent training and development opportunities

· The opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements, which include a valuable range of benefits

· Flexible working hours and family
