Quality, Environment, Health And Safety (QEHS) Consultant

Mabbett is an integrated environmental, engineering, health and safety, and sustainability consultancy and we are seeking to recruit an experienced Quality, Environment, Health and Safety (QEHS) Consultant to join our growing team. The position will be based at either our Glasgow or Rosyth office.

Position Overview and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will work within the Environment and Quality Team. Typical projects will include, but will not be limited to:

  • Liaising with clients to assist with full or partial development and implementation of stand-alone or integrated management systems, e.g. ISO 14001, ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001 etc.
  • Internal auditing (second party) of client facilities for compliance with legislation and corporate management systems.
  • On-site support (interim QEHS Consultant/Manager).
  • Assisting with client environmental issues to include: setting up, implementing and monitoring environmental improvement programmes and providing legal compliance assistance.
  • Leading business improvement projects, including lean manufacturing, data analysis and targeting projects. 
  • Resource efficiency including auditing and consulting on energy, water, waste, materials, packaging.
  • Hazardous materials reduction and special waste management.
  • Design and delivery of training, seminars and facilitation of workshops.

The successful candidate will work within a supportive, friendly and driven team, contributing to meeting Team Mabbett targets. 

The position may require travel (including occasional overnight stays) throughout the U.K. and Europe depending on project requirements. Company pool cars are available for business travel and a valid passport and photo ID is required for air travel.

Qualifications and Experience Required


  • Honours or Masters Degree in environmental science, environmental management, chemistry, quality management, manufacturing excellence, business management or a related subject.
  • Membership (graduate, affiliate, associate or full) of a related professional institute for example: IEMA, CIWM, IES etc.
  • IOSH level training for health and safety.


The successful candidate should possess a clear understanding and competent knowledge of most of the following areas:

  • Development, implementation and audit of management systems to include: ISO 14001:2015, 9001:2015, OHSAS 18001, ISO 45001, etc.
  • Lean manufacturing and its application.
  • Chemical management and waste classification.
  • Resource efficiency and sustainability.
  • Health, safety and environmental legislation and requirements.

  • Adaptable and flexible combined with technical excellence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Professional software packages, including Excel, Access etc.
  • Full U.K. driving licence.
  • Eligible to work in the U.K.
