Position/Team Overview

Viavi is looking for an EMEA Commercial Contracts Manager to be based in either our Edinburgh or Newbury office.

The EMEA Commercial Contracts Manager will report to the VP of the Commercial Engagement Team which is part of the Company’s Business Management Organization. The Commercial Engagement Team was established in 2017 to own both commercial and contract management for both direct and indirect sales across the entire Network and Service Enablement portfolio.    

Duties and Responsibilities

The EMEA Commercial Contracts Manager will:

  • Provide proactive commercial contract support for the Company's business in EMEA including reviewing, negotiating, drafting and analysing complex sales and supply contracts, master purchase / framework agreements (maintenance, software, hardware support, etc.), license agreements, contract amendments, terms and conditions and statements of work; 
  • Partner with the Commercial Management Team, Business Management Organization, Sales Organization and Business Units to ensure internal/external deliverables are met in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Interact comfortably and proactively with and support needs of various internal stakeholders (sales, finance / revenue recognition, operations, etc.);
  • Travel to internal and external meetings and lead contract negotiation team at customer locations as required.  
  • Partner with other members of the Commercial Engagement Team to efficiently and effectively manage workloads, collaborate on departmental and cross-functional initiatives and participate in team activities; 
  • Familiarity with contract lifecycle management databases that compile and organize contracts w/ approval and signature routing features.
  • Assist in preparation of presentations (PPT).
  • The Contract Manager may be required to administer elements of contracts.
  • Working knowledge of revenue recognition rules and implications a plus.

Required Qualifications & Experience

The successful candidate:

  • 5-10 years of commercial contract review, negotiation and management experience at a global technology company.
  • Will be a confident self-starter who is comfortable working autonomously with the ability to use judgement to make sound and reasoned decisions and who is proficient in handling multiple activities/managing a variety of commercial and contractual matters.  
  • Will have strong interpersonal and communication skills to establish credibility and facilitate an effective working relationship with a wide range of global Company representatives and with colleagues within the Company’s Business Management Office are a must.  
  • Will have demonstrated business acumen, initiative, and organisational, prioritisation and time management skills are essential.  
  • Must be comfortable rolling up their sleeves and taking independent initiative to resolve problems in a timely manner.  
  • Will be able to highlight legal and/or commercial risk with the ability to explain this to the business stakeholders identified above with suggestions on how best to mitigate and/or move forward in line with Company’s stated commercial objectives, strategic thinking, goal and team orientation, and a history of developing productive cross-functional relationships across all levels within an organization.
  • Must be willing to travel regionally and internationally (15% travel).  
  • Must have a University Degree.

Desired Qualifications & Experience

  • Legal / Paralegal studies a plus.
  • French / German / Spanish / Italian Language Skills a plus.
  • Experience in telecommunications, enterprise, software and/or service deals strongly preferred.
