Position Summary:

NEL, a division of TUV SUD Ltd in the UK, is an international provider of specialist technical consultancy, research, development, testing and measurement services with an excellent reputation built up over 50 years.  We deliver to customers from a range of industries including Oil & Gas, Renewable & Sustainable Energy, and Government. We also have a unique responsibility as the UK National Measurement Institute for Flow. 

Following a recent investment to extend our world leading facilities to include a Centre of Excellence for Multiphase Flow, we now have excellent opportunities for experienced flow meter calibration engineers across our various flow facilities. Within this position a thorough understanding of a broad range of flow metering technologies, the criticality of meter calibration and a strong customer focus are amongst the important attributes required.

For the next 18 months we will be delivering a business transformation project across our whole business including important developments required within our existing facility operations and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to this transformation plan by quickly becoming competent across a number of meter calibration disciplines. 

Typically, meter calibrations range from relatively straight forward single phase applications, both liquid and gas, through to highly complex wet gas and multiphase scenarios.  The facilities are also used to support a wide range of research activities.  The successful candidate would be expected to support this work through the competent operation of the flow facility.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Competent and safe operation of various flow meter calibration facilities for test and calibration work for external and internal customers
  • Data analysis and the production of official calibration certificates
  • Training others in the operation of the test facility and meter calibration procedures
  • Calibration of secondary instrumentation used across the various facilities including, but not limited to, temperature and pressure transmitters
  • Support Quality requirements through the regular review of operating procedures and work instructions
  • Promotion and maintenance of Health and Safety standards across the facility

Education and Experience

  • OND or higher in Engineering or Instrumentation or a related topic
  • Knowledge of engineering and technology principles and practices
  • Oil & Gas sector experience is desirable but not essential

Specific skills & knowledge,

  • Operational understanding of flow meters and the calibration process
  • Quality systems and standards, specifically ISO17025
