Main Purpose:

Kibble is Scotland's specialist provider for young people at risk, one of Scotland’s oldest charities and today a leading social enterprise. Kibble works with young people from 5 to 25, offering a uniquely integrated array of services, opening up new possibilities for young people to play a purposeful part in society and prepare them for a happy and fulfilled adult life.

You will be an integral part of the Specialist Intervention Services Team and provide a range of specialist assessment, intervention and consultancy for young people in Kibble services. The team adopts a multi disciplinary approach and incorporates psychological services, healthcare, systemic family work and therapeutic practitioners.

The competencies of the psychologist are viewed as priority over discipline and therefore applications from clinical, forensic, counselling and educational psychologists are encouraged.

Consideration will be given to secondments from NHS or similar organisations and psychologists towards the end of their qualification who can evidence they are near to qualification.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • To provide psychological assessment, intervention and consultancy to young people at risk who have experienced high adversity.
  • To further develop psychological services within the organisation.

Main Duties:

  • To provide psychological assessments and formulations with young people under Kibble services.
  • To provide psychological interventions for young people at risk.
  • Analyse local, area and national policy to develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Provide staff training in relevant psychological areas.
  • Support the delivery of interventions provided by members of the Specialist Intervention Services Team and other staff.
  • Contribute to service based research and evaluation.
  • Undertake research projects to evaluate the contribution of specific service elements, policy initiatives or group programme developments.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Professions Council.
  • Previous experience of psychological assessment, delivery of appropriate therapeutic approaches.
  • Proven skills in risk assessment and management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Previous experience of working within a multidisciplinary team.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working with young people who are looked after and accommodated including primary-school aged children.
  • Knowledge and understanding of how adversity and traumatic experiences can influence children and young people who are looked after and accommodated.
  • Experience of supervision of psychologists.
