Role: Assistant Tax Manager

Location: Based in Ashurst’s Glasgow office

Reporting to: Head of Partnership Tax and Partner Finances

Hours of work - Monday to Friday, 9:00 - 5:30, however you will be required to work such hours as are necessary to carry out your duties.  Some travel (mainly to London) may be required.

Department/ Role Overview:

Working within the Partnership Tax and Partner Finances team which is responsible for the management of all global partner tax and remuneration arrangements.

Responsible for preparation of UK tax returns for partners and secondees plus UK and non-resident partner tax reserve calculations. Working with support of a Tax Assistant and reporting to the Senior Tax Managers based in the London office.

Main responsibilities:

•          Preparation of individual UK income tax returns for approximately 125 UK partners plus about 20 employee secondees.

•          Preparation of composite UK income tax return for approximately 80 partners.

•          Management of UK income tax payments relating to tax returns prepared.

•          Preparation of UK and non-resident partner tax reserve calculations (training will be provided).

•          Analysis of global tax payments for tax reserve purposes.

•          Completion of Withholding tax forms and Tax residency certificates for Group invoicing processes

•          Adhoc support to Senior Tax Managers as required.

Risk and Control: Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with our regulatory requires and internal policies.

Essential skills and experience:

•          Experience of preparing UK income tax returns for High Net Worth individuals.

•          Candidate with professional tax qualification (ATT / CTA) or studying towards preferred.

•          Experience of partnership sector and / or international business desirable.

•          Good interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, orally or in writing with all levels of stakeholders.

•          Strong working knowledge of Excel and Word

•          Excellent attention to detail.

•          Strong time and process management skills.
