Aberdeen Heat and Power are looking for a Project Manager to be based at our Aberdeen site

The successful candidate will be responsible for the project management of CHP district heating projects on site, and the delivery of future business opportunities to maximise connections and the development of the CHP district heating network.

Management of developments approved/on site

In conjunction with the CHP Engineer and Site Supervisor, oversee and safely manage new projects to agreed timescales and within agreed budgets, and keep the Development Sub-Group updated on project progress and finance. Maintain regular contact and meetings with the CHP Engineer.

Appoint the CHP Engineer to design, install and commission CHP systems using the standard AH&P contract template.

For Council housing projects:

  • Liaise with relevant contacts within the Local Authority to facilitate project development, including ensuring all necessary information is provided to enable the Council to regularly report internally and/or to any grant funding bodies.
  • Maximize the number of dwellings connected to the new heat network by positive communication with householders and others using a mix of communication channels.

For all projects:

  • Obtain way-leaves for underground pipe runs and necessary licences for CHP station installations through discussion with local authority and legal partners.
  • Work with the CHP engineer and site supervisor to produce and maintain programmes that can be submitted to project partners to demonstrate control over contractors and progress.
  • Ensure an Installation Agreement is in place covering the capital contribution the building owner will be making to each development, using the standard AH&P template.
  • Ensure a Heat Supply Agreement, and as appropriate a Maintenance Agreement, is in place for each building connected to the heat network, using standard AH&P templates.
  • Be responsible for site health and safety issues including CDM regulation.
  • Post completion, carry out customer satisfaction surveys to provide feedback on both contractor performance and to assist appraisal of contractor performance.
  • Conduct appraisals of contractors’ performances

Business Development

  • Liaise with the Council on potential new projects, including arranging Feasibility Studies with the CHP Engineer.
  • Prepare reports for authorisation by the relevant sub groups and/or the Board on proposed new projects, in line with existing procedures.
  • Identify, develop working relationship with, and maintain regularly contact with relevant contacts for potential new non-Council developments, thereby ensuring all future development opportunities are rationally considered, fit with AH&P’s and DEAL’s strategic objectives, and are not missed.

The successful candidate will be expected to deputise for Chief Executive/Operations & Maintenance Manager as required.

NJC Job scale PO3 – Points scale 38‐41, representing a salary range of  £33,000 to £36,000
