Job description:

We have a truly unique opportunity available with a leading global asset manager who are seeking an experienced individual to join their Edinburgh based Investment Governance and Oversight department. The main objective of this position is to assist in providing a robust and coherent policy framework to the global operation of the business.

Within the company's Investment Policy team, you will primarily be responsible for the provision of business and administrative support to the Investment Governance and Oversight committees to ensure these operate consistently, effectively, and efficiently. You will ensure that all relevant matters follow the appropriate governance processes and are considered at and escalated to the correct forums. In addition, you will provide support to the Global Head of the Investment Policy function in the development of the investment governance policy framework.

We are actively seeking applications from agile and adaptable individuals who are strong communicators with a minimum of five years' experience in the asset management industry, ideally gained within a company secretarial, legal, compliance or regulatory risk position.

Core responsibilities:

  • Responsible for providing all aspects of business and administrative support to the Global Investment Governance and Oversight Committees
  • Manage agendas and matters arising; minute-taking; policy and terms of reference review schedules; and, annual effectiveness reviews facilitate the discharge of responsibilities
  • Ensure that a high-quality, professional and consistent standard of reporting is being provided to support the Global Investment Governance and Oversight Committees in discharging their responsibilities
  • Manage the agendas of the Global Investment Governance and Oversight Committees to ensure that all relevant matters are considered at and escalated to the correct forums
  • Assist the Global Head of Investment Policy in the development and maintenance of the Global Investment Governance policy framework
  • Provide quality assurance with respect to business reporting generated from the Investment Governance and Oversight team and provided to boards, committees and senior management.

Essential:

  • The role holder is expected to hold a good degree in relevant field and have an appropriate professional qualification
  • Ideally a minimum of five years' work experience in the asset management industry
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly with respect to reporting and project management
  • A confident communicator (written and verbal) and possess strong influencing skills
  • Well organised with the ability to plan effectively and manage multiple tasks

Highly desirable:

  • Company Secretarial qualification (ACIS or FCIS) or Scottish or English qualified Solicitor
