Housing Mediation Project Development Worker
The University of Strathclyde Mediation Clinic, founded in 2012, provides a free mediation service for 6 Sheriff Courts in West Central Scotland.  Post-graduate students work alongside experienced Mediators to give students invaluable practical experience. Following the Clinic’s most successful year to date, and an award of funding from SafeDeposits Scotland Trust, we are setting up a Housing Mediation Project providing free mediation for private landlord/tenant disputes. Through the promotion of mediation, the project aims to offer landlords, tenants and agents a cost-effective, pragmatic and less stressful means of resolving their disputes consensually and helping them preserve their relationships, as well as reducing the likelihood of eviction.
We are recruiting a Project Development Worker who will set up and run this project. Applications are invited from graduates with relevant work experience as a mediator and ideally with knowledge of the Housing/Private Rented Sector. You must be energetic and self-motivated with excellent communication skills. You will require to liaise with relevant Stakeholders, including the new First-tier Tribunal for Scotland, to identify and discuss their requirements; to bring together and supervise a team of Student and Lead Mediators able to conduct the mediations; to organise training; and generally to oversee delivery of the project. You will also be proactive in seeking out potential service users, publicising the project and in developing the sustainability of the project for the future.

Informal enquiries about the post can be directed to Charlie Irvine, Senior Teaching Fellow ().

Formal interviews for this post will be held on week commencing 20 March 2018.
