  • Fulfilling the role of DPO for customers in line with UK and GDPR requirements.
  • Advising customers, including senior management, on data protection matters and monitoring compliance by collating and analysing relevant information in order to issue recommendations to the data controller or processor.
  • Act as the customer’s contact point for data processing queries.
  • Updating / establishing customer procedures and internal guidance relating to the processing of personal information as required.
  • Advising customers on Data Subject Rights including Subject Access Requests, Data Protection Impact Assessments and Personal Data Breaches, ensuring compliance with UK and GDPR regulations.
  • Maintaining a Record of Data Processing on behalf of customers when requested.
  • Managing customer relationships.
  • Directing complex data protection queries or legal issues to BTO Solicitors as required.
  • Directing relevant training requirements to Computer Law Training as required.

Skills, Competences and Qualifications required:

  • An appropriate qualification or significant relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Legal, Compliance, IT Security or other relevant qualifications and/or experience.
  • Expert knowledge of data protection legislation including GDPR.
  • Knowledge of cyber security risks and information security standards.
  • Ability to audit data management systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and judgement.
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication and influencing skills.
  • Car driving licence.
  • A willingness and ability to travel.

Above all, successful candidates will be able to demonstrate significant relevant knowledge and experience of data protection matters in line with current regulations including GDPR, and an ability to manage strong customer relationships through effective communications, including with senior management.
