The merged firm, which will be called HBJ Gateley Wareing, will have 75 partners and more than 280 fee-earners working out of offices in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Leicester and Nottingham.
With a fee income of more than £40m, the firm will move into the top 60 law firms in the UK. The Scottish business alone operates with 36 partners and more than 110 fee earners.
Malcolm McPherson (pictured), HBJ senior partner, said: "We have for some time wanted to increase our presence in Glasgow, and merging with Boyds gives us the ideal platform to build a substantial business in a vibrant city."
Boyds Solicitors, whose core strengths are in corporate advice, dispute resolution and commercial property, won the 2006 Commercial Property Team of the Year at the Scottish Legal Awards.
